Default 55 Turn + "Regular" ESC?

I have a reversing ESC from LRP from just a couple years ago. I think the typical rating on ESCs from that era rate the motor turns up to 35 or so. Can I run a 55 turn motor?

I even see this from Novak on the Crawler ESC.

"The Rooster Crawler is compatible with single and dual brushed motor crawler applications such as a single Mabuchi 27-turn motor or dual 35 to 55-turn lathe motors."

What's the deal?

Thanks

I don't believe there's an ESC that won't run a 55t. A 55t draws less power compared to a 35t,so it shouldn't be an issue.

You'll have no issue. Many of the ESC manufacturers haven't updated their packaging to include the lathe-style crawler motors as being acceptable.

I know the Moped packaging states 10-36T, and it runs 55T motors all day long.

Thanks for the replies. Uh...what is a "lathe" style motor? I assume it's one of the higher wind motors, i.e. 55.

It is. These motors actually were designed to run motor lathes, and spread into the crawler world.

I'm just finishing up another build, being on a tight budget I'm using a LRP reversing esc because I had it kicking around. Yes it works but, most of these esc's have a rather weak bec (mine is 5 volts, 1 amp) and they also lack a drag brake. I'm running a 55t with 87t spur 20t pinion, the 55t gets slightly warm but the esc stays cool, and I barely notice the lacking bec. I plan on upgrading the esc mainly because I like having a drag brake..... I see another sidewinder in the near future!
