Smile upgrades? necessary or not?

i was looking to upgrade the links and steering to aluminium and i was wondering what is an absolute must on upgrading to aluminium? would it just be easier to buy the upgrade kit for 40 bucks and work out what i want from there? also i stripped out the servo driving around in the snow today, and was wondering what is a good replacement servo to do serious crawling. As well as shocks, what is a good length and what is getting out of hand? recommendations? Along with that, i saw different lengths of bent links, and was wondering what is a good length? what is to long and what is to short? Thanks for the help!!!

I say either buy the aluminum kit or make your own. for a servo i would recommend a JR DS8711 if you need a serious servo. For shocks I run Losi Crawler shocks and I highly recommend them. They only come in 4" length though so I cant give you any better lengths. As for the length of the links. I think the stock staight links or the 101mm bent links are fine. and thats what most peopl use because it doesn't change your wheelbase. If you go longer/shorter it'll change you wheel base accordingly. Hope this helps a little
