Default Build List Questions

So this is a little bit of a super newb question, but I am looking to build another crawler, and then use parts to put one together for my pops for xmas. Here is what I can think of, if I am missing anything please let me know.

Chassis ( I am thinking black widow, CDW, or a couple of others)

Axles (Axials I already have, front is built, need to beef up the rear)

Links/link mounting accessories (BTW where is a good place to start for getting links for use with the aftermarket chassis? Are there any chassis that allow the use of stock links?)

Servo (645 MG for now)

Speed Control (CC Sidewinder, should I get a BEC?)

TX/RX (going to be buying a 2.4 system, this fm crap is killing me)

Tranny/motor (Axial Trans, 55 turn novak for now, hopefully a 7t puller later on)

Drivelines (MIP)

Wheels/tires (Already have axial BL's with Hammers which work well on my other rig. )

Battery (3s Lipo)

Shocks (Losi 4" with dubro rod ends)

Mounting accesories (I have a lipo/servo plate, as well as home made link plates)

Body

I plan on doing the star thing and cruising the for sale section for parts instead of buying new, I feel like people sell pretty decent used stuff here from checking out the FS section on my buddies account. I have most of this stuff already, I really just wanted to write it all down and double check the list. I have the urge to build my own beast lol.

If he doesnt live near you or have access to one, he'll need a charger. BTW, good job on the gift....I too am giving one to my Dad this year. Last year the father in-law got an RC as a gift. They are a BIG hit!

No problem. BTW, yes, your links can be used with different chassis, it just really depends on the location of the mounting holes on the new chassis. If they are not the proper length, just get some threaded rod and aluminum tubing and you'll be set to easily make some new ones!

Make sure you run a cutoff
Countless lipos ruined to that
Also does the charger balance the lipo?
if not then get one of those too

The Sidewinder can be programmed to have a LVC. Mikedoug, if you want to set the LVC, you will need to purchase the CastleLink...so add that to your list as well!
