| thinking of building a scale rig
i have been looking at the projects and it has inspired me to maybe do a scale build. im wondering how much i will cost. i think i want to use a bruiser chassis, but i dont know what kind of axles, or trans you guys use. can you guys give me an estimate.

any type of estimate would be a guess, tell us more. what type of scaler you want to build? one for just playing around with and looking kind of scale? or do you want to get really detaild with it? cause i built a MRC L-Trail for around 300$ RTR from a MRC kit, but thats no bruiser. if you want to use a "OG" bruiser chassis its not gonna be cheap and the axles most guys use on the bruiser chassis are the original bruiser axles and or TLTs (for the most part of what ive seen) lmk how much you want to spend and ill give you an idea of what you can do with it... for example i probably have around 1500$ into the current scaler im aquireing parts for. and months of planning! if money was no object and i wanted a bruiser type rig i would buy the bruiser kit off of rc4wd.com here but you would still have to buy quite a bit more stuff to finish it. - tre Last edited by akguanja; 12-15-2008 at 11:02 AM. |

you could get a tamiya hilux kit for around 300$+ and probably squeeze in under 500$ after buying the servos/rx/tx for it unless of course you already have that stuff. if your wanting something REALLY scale looking i would watch the for sale section. and you probably will find a very nice scaler for 500$ in there. just spend a couple weeks watching it, about every few days a nice scaler pops up. if you really want to build your own you "might" be able to watch the bay and find a set of bruiser axles/frame for 300$ or so(if ure lucky) then build it up from there. but you might be closer to the 600$-$800 range... Axles/Chassis - 300$ Body+body parts - 96$ tranny(depending which one 40$-100$) drive lines(30$) wheels+tires(huge variance there but 50$-200$) motor(again varies $20-60$) tx(varies again) esc($40-130$) batt($20-100$) should give you an idea. like i said thoe you probably can find a rig worth 1000$ or more for around $500 on the For Sale section. another option might be buying a losi MRC and scale chassis for it like the K2 .5 chassis putting you at around 250$ for both and then all you would need is the toyota body set which is around 100$ totaling 350$ and leaveing you money for upgrades... of course it wont be near as scale looking as the bruiser type stuff. if you have any more questions about prices/whereto get whatever let me know in a pm. - tre Last edited by akguanja; 12-15-2008 at 11:24 AM. |
