Thanks all, I will be sure to take some pics along the way. I need to get a better feel for this site. Things are arranged a bit different than other forums I belong to. Sorry for posting in the wrong place. LR |

Well, I finaly got a chance to work on my new AX10 ARTR last night. I have never had a crawler before but found the stock form to be way to stiff. There is little to no droop in the suspension, little articulation due to the stiff springs, and the stock foams are way to much, not allowing the tire to get a flat wide foot print. So I removed the wheels and dissasembled the tires. I cut the foams down, added 3oz of lead weight to my new after market aluminum wheels. Then mounted the tires to the new wheels. I ordered new springs, a spur gear, mip drive shafts, wheel spacers, jr 403inlb servo and a few other parts last night. I found my new wheels don't have the same offset as the stocks and there is a clearance issue at the stock knucle. I ordered 15mm spacers. This should get me back to stock width, or a little wider. I wish I had realized this isue before I orderd the wheels. The spacers come with extra long stub axles. So this eliminates my ability to run CVD axels in the front. I will probably get a differant set of wheels or machine my own in the future, so that I can run CVD's I also found the shocks hit the lower track rod when you try to articulate the suspension. I have to find a cure for this. Any ideas?? Thats all for now. LR.. Last edited by Little Rhody; 12-18-2008 at 09:27 AM. |
