MOA conversion?

I am looking into a MOA conversion and saw that raptor axles are very nice looking but am not sure about them because i have heard they are junk.
And, i think they are too wide for 2.2 class with 8 shooters.
I saw berg axles and are i think too wide
then i saw the ones meant for axial and just want to know the basics I.E. dual esc? how to do dig? i am planning on a FXR for esc but cant afford 2 and dont know how you wire 2 of them and just want to be informed on all of this
this might be for the newb section but since i just fell into somethign worth some money i want to see what i can do
feel free to post any input u have
thanks :)

I dont know about the FXR, but for less than 80 bux you can get the Sidewinder and it will run dual brushed motors for a MOA rig with no problems according to castle creations. With proper offset wheels bergs can be made to be about 10-10.25" wide...which is pretty much ideal (altho i like having the 9.5" wide rear axle). That being said the HR conversion is well liked, but has weak inner axles and aluminum lockers. For dig do a search in the Berg or clod sections as it has been discussed hundreds of times, just requires 2 switches and a micro servo.

do what i did when idecided to go MOA, read the posts in the berg and clod sections....massive amount of information to be had, and it pretty much applies to any MOA rig.

isnt a 12.5 track width allowed for 2.2?
i like the customizibility of a FXR and i bet it will handle them both
i think i might just go witout dig for a while, if i do then i can run novice right?

nj05nismo 12-30-2008 05:44 PM

i dont know your local rigs, but MOA is not ok in Novice here...

i beleive 12.5 track width is ok...

the Sidewinder is the ultimate in tunability...there is nothing you cant tune:D

47willysbuggy 12-30-2008 05:55 PM

with the castle link, but then i need to do it on my PC
the fxr is all in the field
dont try to persuade me for a sidewinder unless the specs are better
i still havent heard of anyone unsatisfied with the FXR
what other MOA axles are there?
Berg, raptor 1 and 2 and the hot racing ones

Calderwood 12-30-2008 06:19 PM

I love my bergs. The track width is perfect with the berg offset Eritex wheels. You are right 12.5" is legal for 2.2s but you would have an awful time trying to fit through the gates. Here is a sticky in the berg section for digs on MOAs: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/enroute-berg/136425-my-dig-switch-box.html

The Raptors are two wide and are geared high.

The Bullies would be good.

47willysbuggy 12-30-2008 08:48 PM

then a FXR should pull it off right?
i will order myself one of those

So if your not getting the FXR what are you getting? And Bullys are a great choice.;-)

47willysbuggy 12-30-2008 09:06 PM

I WAS going to get a sidewinder, but then with the PC link its the same price so the fxr is it
it will handle a 3c while i think the sidewinder will only handle 2 cells
what esc do you run?
also ideas on chassis? and shocks?

I don't have a vid of it. It works great though. I run a Mamba Max.

I will run a Mamba Max on 3s and a custom chassis on 94 MM shocks with Bullys on Panthers mounted on Eritex AX-10 offset Solids. Mine is a well planed WIP."thumbsup"

I should have axles by the end of next week.

Racer4Life 12-30-2008 09:17 PM

35 or 45 turns from Holmes Hobbies

Tekin or Sidewinder...I prefer Sidewinder

Get a 3 cell lipo You will love the wheel speed.

Losi 4" shocks and a Kamikaze chassis with bent links.

neat chassis, i think i might just make one, a VERY small one. Big enough for a battery.
looks like you might need more wheelspeed.
lol

why do you prefer sidewinder?
besides the PC link customizing
i think ill get some shocks from JPcustoms
chassis might have to be a KK
which one though?

Just like the Castle stuff. The PC interface is nice. Works with the BEC's too.

Losi shocks!!! Trust me.

The KK chassis depends on the shocks. If you go with the Losi, get the chassis for 4" shocks.
