How steep can you climb in degrees? Just curious what degree some of these dialed in mrc's are crawling. Also post your belly pan heights. I know 2.2s anything over 63* is pretty good but there's alot more wheelbase. If you have video proof even better and a link to your build thread would be a bonus. Cool idea on the thread, but without knowing info. about the surface, the angle is a rather arbitrary measurement. So people really should add surface/texture type along with the angle (at a minimum). Anyway, here's a video of an angled sandstone slab in my yard. It's approximately 54 degrees. The surface is rather course and grippy, however, the undulations of the surface definitely hinder upward progress. You can see in the video where it hesitates a couple times. Oops I should have been more clear. Get a flat board and glue sandpaper to it. Then traction as a variable is eliminated and cg and torque twist are then the determining factors in how steep you can climb. |
The way I have my NatV2 set up, it will do 58-59* with a skid plate height of about 1.5". |
We went to our local crawl spot today and Rockcrawler brought his board he does some of his testing on and my mini GC2 climbed it at 65 degrees the same as my Axial based Gc2. My belly clearance is 1 3/4 wheelbase is 8 7/16 |

65 :shock: that's fantastic "thumbsup" I was really supprised too to get climbing so steep on such a short wheelbase. I guess cg is way lower and the smaller tires might help? I asked for this for christmas from the wife just for fun but I find myself spending quite a bit of time messing around with it. Way more capable then I thought they would be :-P |
Are you guys who are getting 60-plus degrees of climbing using a 4-link rear or stock 3-link? Mine climbs pretty well but I don't know the exact angle yet. I'll measure it soon. |
mine climbs some insane angles on this shale I found but as soon as there is any sand - its all over. I like this idea of normalization with the sandpaper board. On car windshields I can climb a '95 Accord but not a '04 Element :) |
Hrmm gotta make a board, I can climb a 01 xterra windshield but I will only be happy when i can climb my 03 jeep rubicon lol;-) I think you may have invented a new mini competition! Maybey you should dictate the sandpaper grit, and length of board that must be climbed to be able to qualify your degree of climb! |
if this is a new competition I will have to zip tie my front end down all the way at full compression and put smaller tires up front. |
