Default Newb!!

Just a quick Hi! I'm new to the crawling scene, but playing with RC's on and off for about 3 years now. But I've really got the bug for a crawler tho!! I've been doing tons of reading here, what a great site!!

I think I've narrowed my choices down to the Axial kit or ARTR and the Venom Creeper. REALLY leaning towards the Axial tho. Not sure I need the locking diffs the creeper has. Although, it wouldn't be bad to have it as an option tho. Only real concern is the newness of the creeper. The Axial has SO much aftermarket support, it's going to be a little while for the creeper tho.

Well, back to research!

I think you'll like the artr the best because it's already got every thing to be a comp machine but I've never seen the creeper perform so what do I know it does look pretty mean though.

I also liked the creeper, but went with the ax10 because of the support, hopups and vast knowledge base for it. Still can't wait to see more of the creeper though.

Somewhere I had seen a link to the Himoto Rock Crusher too. Lot's articulation, but I doubt the support in the states is too good. Could be wrong tho.

I'm am in absolute LUST for an AX10 tho!!! I'm thinking Novak Rooster ESC with a Trinity 55t motor should rock pretty good! And of course the tried and tured Hitec servo I'm sure. I'll probably also go with a 2.4 GHz radio, might as well. I'm just on the fence about the batts. I have been kind of lax on the Lipo scene, so I need to do some research. Even tho I have a charger that will handle it. What about the the LiFe, would that be better? Just need to get a balancer I guess.

Thanks guys!

You WILL need locked diffs. Having traction at all four tires is a must for crawling...

I haven't seen much about the new 1/10th Losi crawler. Although I think thier 1/18th is pretty hot for it's size!

I agree withe locked diffs. Werty plans on leaving his creeper locked all the time, so what's the point IMO. I doubt I'll ever be good enough to every notice the difference, have the need, or have the skill to utilize the diffs on the creeper anyway.

It is nice to be able to unlock the front diff for turning purposes (which is the reason people use selectable lockers in 1:1 crawlers)...

Well I looked at Losi's site. Their crawler comes with a dig even. Hmmm.

Front AND rear Dig/Burn.

There are quite a few nice features about the axles as well!

Is the worm gear drive better than the standard setup like on the Axial?

The novak rooster crawler is limited in it's voltage (doesnt run 3s lipo) If thats a concern to you, may have to look at some others

Hmm, not a problem in the short term, but you never know down the road. I'll do some more looking, thanks for the tip!

Not only that, but it is a top loading axle (because of the worm gear that is used), which means more clearance for the driveshaft. The axles also appear to have more clearance under the pumpkin than the Axial and definitely the TLTs.

I thought I read somewhere that with the worm gear that it helped reduce the effect of chassis twist as well. Yes/no?

I wish there were a few more reviews on the new Losi out there. Right now, it's pretty much just what Losi is putting out.

Well, noone has the new Losi Crawler, so no reviews yet.

I'm not sure that it will help reduce torque twist, but it might.
