| I'm a Newb! I just ordered all my stuff yesterday.
I'm kind of a Newb. My first RC truck was a Black Foot. Got it for Christmas when I was 13. That was a long time ago. Always wanted a Bruiser when I was young. Bought a real nice one on E-bay. It just sat around and never got used, so I sold it. I was looking around at Tamiya stuff on Tower Hobbies web page, and saw the 1/10 Toyota Tundra. Man, I feel in love. I really enjoy to build projects. Been into RC helicopters for a round 8 years. Started doing some research and landed here. What a great web site. No BS! So I made the plunge and bought me a setup. Here is the list. I know it's not the best of everything, but should work for what I want. Tamiya Toyota Tundra Futaba 3PM 3-Channel FM/1 S3305 Servo Futaba MC230CR ESC w/Reverse 20+T DuraTrax Piranha 6-Cell 7.2V 1900mAh NiCd Flat Std Plug Full Ball Bearing set Axial 1.9 8 hole Beadlockers black IntelliPeak AC/DC Twin Pulse Charger Tamiya LED Light Unit (TLU-01). Rock Crusher X/T Tires Should be a fun build! Thanks Last edited by Mangoats; 01-06-2009 at 09:23 PM. |

So here is a question. The stock motor for the Toyota tundra is a 540 27T motor. I have read people using 55T motors. What are the pros to a 55T motor. I understand how they work, just not how it translates to the way the vehicle drives. Does it make it crawl slower with more torque?

the 55 turn gives you more torque and less speed. it is a motor geared toward crawling not racing. so for a heavy truck like the tamiya it will be a good match. |

So with the Futaba speed controller I have ordered. Do you suggest a 55T motor? The speed controller can support 24T and up, I think. Or should I just stick with the stock motor? My plans are just to do some basic crawling. Nothing hardcore, but I want it to be realistic. Also, I'm kind of on the fence about which tires to get. 1.9 Out Croppers or 1.9 Rock Crusher X/T. I plan on lifting the truck a little.

Go with the stock motor. If it doesn't work as you like it's and easy swap for a new higher wind one. |
