| will this work?
I have a spectrum radio and receiver from my RTR losi 8t and a hightech 5955 servo and I want to get a ax10 and was wondering what esc and motor to get that will be compatible with the stuff mentioned above ? I found a deal on a used sidewinder and need to know if I need the programming stuff to make it work? thanks in advance I love reading on this site... |

Usually the only real pairing you need to do is the esc/motor. Typically you can connect (almost) any esc and servo to a receiver. I've had to shave off those damn tabs on the plugs before to make them fit, but usually they'll work (as long as you keep the scale the same, eg 1/10th to 1/10th, as some smaller servo's have smaller plugs that wont work in full size receivers).

You should be able to manually program the Sidewinder until you get a Castle link. Check Castle's web site for instruction and info about a Castle link.

that a great servo, and a decent radio, and both should basically work with any ESC/Motor combo as they really dont do much but draw power and take commands from the same battery and Rx. so there shouldnt be any compatability issues. you MAY need to use a BEC on your steering servo though, as to not rob too much power from the ESC in heavy use situations. i would recommend the Novak Rooster ESC/55t motor combo around 100.00 or the Goat system at 200.00 Or a MM Sidewinder or Mamba Max and a good motor (150 to 250) or the Tekin Pro esc and motor of choice . same cost. |
