Which gear to recomend really depends on what direction you're thinking of going with your crawler. Are you planning a general crawler/basher? A scale truck? A full out comp rig? Different axles, electronics, chassis design etc. will all have different strengths/weaknesses depending on what you plan to use them for. |

The AX10 ARTR is a good place to get started! If you are more into building your own stuff and finding things that will work well on your crawler, then pick up a set of TLT axles and go from there.... |

do you like to build? if so go with a Kit. i would recommend building anyways, they are not that hard to build, plus it gives you the knowledge needed when you have a problem, or want to improve performace. you ll understand the parts, how they fit ect...... if you dont like to build, then maybe crawling isnt for you. lol not to be mean, but even a artr kit will lead you to mods, and modding means building, plain and simple. heh. but if you want to get going right away, and prefer or dont have the spare time to build a kit (around 3 hrs maybe 4), than you can get a great headstart with an artr. then as mentioned you can 2.2 scale or comp-crawler. your looking around 300 to 350 to get going if you have a radio,, or go the inexpensive route for now. maybe you can find a decent deal on a used rig if you want to jump right in. what do you currently have for gear and whats your budget? |

You would do good with the following Scorpion rather than a custom on my first truck. When you know more and know what you like and have a lot more experience do the custom: Axial Ax-10 $220 Spektrum DR3R Transmitter with receiver $300 Metal gear Hitec servo $55 55T Traxxas motor $30? Castle Creations Mamba Max ESC $120 7.2 V battery pack (NiMh) $30? Metric Allen wrench set $45 Metric Nut Driver set $45 LiPoly capable charger $120 I can get you exact links on Monday, but all this stuff is on amainhobbies.com, or you can save some money on eBay.
