| Dig Unit?
How is a dig unit controlled? From what i understand its controlled by a servo, so does that mean you have to have a switch to control the servo on your radio ( kind of like rear wheel steering)? Something like the TQ3 has on it? Thanks Could this be done with a DX2.0 Last edited by travis00; 02-07-2009 at 06:43 PM. |

Yes, you'll need at least a 3-channel radio, like the TQ3, to run a dig.

your 3rd channel SHOULD BE a 3 position channel, not a 2. a 2 position channel will only give you 2 of the 3 dig settings. you can fake out the dig with a 2p 3rd cnl IF you have EPA adjustments. just set the 3rd chnl to operate the dig for 4wd and Free rear wheel. when you want to lock the rear end, use the EPA adjustment to put the dig in full lock, then epa back out of the full lock back to free wheel, then move 3rd chanl switch to go back to 4wd. its a bitch to do and takes a bit more time to do it. you also want to be SURE to go back to the exact EPA settings you had for freewheel, and you DONT want to over stress the servo by going to far and the EPA when locking the rear up. you ll likley fry the dig servo. best option is a 3rd chnl with a 3p switch. the traxxas tq3 does not have this option, NO EPAs (Even on teh new 2.4 tq4 there are NO EPAS. what a waist of 2.4 use). though some folks think have modified their tq 3 radio for this function, and it seems pretty inexpensive to do. but, imho, even on a crawler, using a cheap radio like the TQs are only good if you just cant afford a Quality radio system. |
