dig unit using trans diff?

I am a noob here, and yes I did do a search before asking.
How about using the 'pede trans, and making a dig on each side of the trans diff instead of locking it solid. Then using a heavy grease or oil to slow the diff action. Other than increasing wheel speed when one side is locked,it seems like it may be worth a try. What do YOU folks think?

by looking the one side you will force the other side to spin at 2x the rpm. Or have half the torque.

It will be very difficult to gear it so that you have torque in dig and speed in 4wd.

Plus an open or limited slip center diff sucks for traction, I have to lock the center diff on my 4runner to pull a trailer on grass.

I knew there was a reason I could not find any info on it. The extra power required just to turn a stiff diff is enough reason to not do it. Thanks.

It seems like you could use a center diff type trany for that reason but with the low torque these things put out it dosent take much to bind up a axle then all the power gets transfered to the free axle.
