| Hi Everyone, I am a newbie to RC crawling. I am looking at various crawlers for my first project. I am considering both competition ready or recreational crawlers. After reading couple of thread I shortlisted some of them. Please help me decide and please tell me what should I look at in a capable crawler.

Hmmm.... This has to be the most asked question... If you are looking at a dual purpose crawler (bash/comp), the AX10 is your monkey! It has be best after-market support right now. As the name implies, the Losi Comp Crawler is really made for that (no rear steer). As for the others, dunno. Get one of the not-so-popular crawlers, run it for a while and post a review.

I would just get hooked up with the AX10 and go from there after you see how you like it.

Somebody has some $$$ to throw around. I say and wait for the Losi. Wish I did, "but I want to crawl now!"

Right now if you want a 2.2 crawler and unless you feel like waiting for the Losi to get released, and who knows when that will be, I would say get the AX10 ARTR, a few simple upgrades will make it a very capable crawler, if you plan to compete rear wheel steering is not allowed and not some thing you will need, how ever dig is allowed and I highly recommend it, it was one of the best things i did to my crawler. as for a super I have no idea, not my cup of tea....

a 2.2 class crawler offer a bigger challenge the a super in my opinion you need a lot of space to run a super class rig, I would get a rtr axial ax10 and get a axial bender chassis and the rtr link end upgrade and some traxxas revo/jeto trx shocks and upgrade your electronics as you see fit and fix what breaks, A lot of people say you need upgraded lockers and heavy duty ring and pinions, but im still running stock internals with an 8 cell nimh battery tekin frx hitec 645 servo 45t motor 14/87 gearing and an m11 spectrum radio wuth no problems on my dna sss rig

My vote is for the Losi Comp all the way. Looking at the schematics of the dual dig, after hearing about how the losi drivers are doing at the comps, and the nature of worm drive axles, Losi has it hands down. For after-market parts, of course axial has the edge, but it is only a matter of time for Losi to catch up. The very nature of the ARTR Losi is that you don't need to upgrade it to comp. Everything but the electronics is there.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the replies. While browsing through the forum I looked at some of the DMG (Death Metal Garage) Planning to use mainly aluminum parts to make it durable. Please let me know if plastic parts are better. 1. Futaba 3pk or 6EX or 7C radio set (Still not sure since it depends on if I can use front and rear DIG setup or not) 2. Futaba servos (Are they good or should i use something else like Hitech. And if using Futaba then should i go for brushless servos or digital brush servos) 3. What aluminum axles should be (planning to use aluminum axle and axle casing since I want to make it solid. On RC4WD there is an axle Bully Comp 2.2 Front & Rear Axle http://www.rc4wdstore.com/2/product_...roducts_id=515) 4. Planning to use front and rear R2DIG transmission from RC4WD. Are they compatible with above stated axle. With this transmission what else i will need. 5. Still not sure what ESC, motor and battery pack should be used. 7. Dont know any thing about the linkages. Please elaborate. 6. What other misc item i will require. Example: servo mounts, wires, etc. Other option being wait for Losi 1/10 Comp crawler and then order DMG chassis that is a direct bolt on. PLease let me know if i have missed something or if there can be another better alternative.
