The SCX10 from Axial is the best. It was designed by serious crawlers, and its performance is incredible, especially for the money.

Im not sure there is a RTR scaler out there... there sure are lots of kits though. You are right there are tons of deals on all sorts of crawlers in the classifieds section... If your willing to build a kit tamiya has tons of options, if you want a great driving scaler I would go for the Axial
Or I will be build you one, I charge 500 pieces of cooked bacon!
Preferably not crunchy.

In my opinion the Tamaya Hi-lift and the Hilux are are the best looking scale trucks. Checkout the 1.9 scale section and you will see some great looking builds with these two trucks! For performance and price the Scx10 by axial is hard to beat with a ton of options and nice looking as well. Here are some cool pictures I took a while back of a Tamaiya F350 Hilift body on a Axial Scx10 built buy one of our local hobby shop owners:-P

By far Tamiya builds the BEST scale bodies. I own a high lift and have an SCX10 on the way. The SCX10 will out crawl the high lift both trucks being in stock form. If you are not afraid to modify a high lift then it too is a very capable crawler, mine is bone stock other than body mods and accessories. It is much easier to mod a hard body such as a Tamiya versus a lexan one like the SCX10. Just my 2 cents...

i was thinking the scx10 and swapping a scale looking body on it because i still want to be able to crawl really good. im not sure how hard it would be to swap a body though and i dont know if they make any for the scx10
