axial scx 10s

Hello all, looking to buy my 1st crawler. leaning towards the all metal & carbon scx 10 d90 frame that is on ebay(from china of course). I dont see much said about them,is there a reason that they dont seem to be too popular? seems that all metal would be desirable from a breakage standpoint. am i missing something. would be thankful for any input from experianced members. Thanks!

you gona be replacing alot of parts pretty quick mostly ring and pinnion gears and front axle shafts and you should make sure those parts are axial compatable other than that take everything apart and make sure all the screws are locktighted and gears are greesed



the quality of the metal they use isent the best but should last depending on how its driven



there are some parts that the plastic parts are better than metal like skid plates



the chinese prebuilt chassies arent a bad starting point and just about everything is interchangable to a point so if you dont like the set up and you decide you want traxxass axles and a element transmission or what ever its possable

If it doesn't have to be new I'd keep an eye on the classifieds. You probably can't see them here until your post count is up (I believe).
But there's bunches of crawlers listed on FB Marketplace and CL. I look from time to time and see some really good deals on occasion.

Like Ferp said above, I wouldn't expect much in the way of durability and may end up replacing a lot of parts. Albeit this is true of pretty much any RC, parts get replaced and/or upgraded

If your budget is willing, and you want to learn to wrench on your crawler, I suggest a kit like the TRX4 or SCX10-II. Both are builders' kits and require electronics, but those are the first parts of an RTR to die anyway.

Go with one of the bigger names instead. Element Enduro, Traxxas trx-4, Redcat Gen 9, Axial scx10.2. Any of those are fine & you'll be able to get parts/upgrades when needed.

I second this.

If brand name 1/10 scale RTR’s seem too expensive out of the gate, consider a 1/18 TRX4m, 1/18 Capra, or scx24 instead

If you are patient, just keep an eye on sales at Tower, Horizon and Amain, as well as scouring Facebook and eBay for "just the right deal".

I concur with the other above. Buy a brand name, for at least the sake of aftermarket support.
Traxxas, Element and Axial, all have some decent "base" model rigs to get you started.

Set yourself up for success to enjoy the hobby.
If you are anything like a large lot of us, we really enjoy wrenching on them and tend to make changes, just for the sake of making the change, to see how it effects the rig.

I prefer Axial as my 1st choice, and Traxxas as my 2nd
