You can really use anything heavy that will fit in the wheel, but most people use the lead automotive stick on weights.

I have solid wheels from motorworx that had a groove in the back so i took fishing sinkers and melted them on the stove and poured that aread full of lead in the front about 2 ounces over the 4 the wheels weigh and i may leave the back alone. Worked great and i just used a spoon over my propane stove top and cooked till it melted down. There will be a layer of impure stuff that turns black and doesnt melt i assume its other alloys in the lead sinkers. Oh and if you use a punch and pop it about 6 times along the centerline it locks it in place.

Any weight will work as long as you make sure it secured down.

I cut lead strips and wrap inside of wheels and tape tightly.

I used two rows of BB's in the channel on the inside of the wheel, then, taped them in place, and put MrGasket stick on wheel weights all the way around. On my MRC it got my front wheels to about 6.5oz.

Seems to work great like this. I'm sure the same thing could be accomplished on the larger 2.2 wheels.

I also just tried some solder i had lying around that was without acid/flux. Worked great on the stockers and not really to bad on the wallet,

i went to a local tire shop and purchased some stick on wheel weights
i did two wraps up front which is about 7oz and 1 wrap out back which is about 3.5oz
it seems to do well so far but im sure i will do some tweaking on it as i get more into it

Just as a point of trivia, that impure stuff is called dross. I think it is mostly lead oxide + other crap that accumulates on the exposed surfaces of lead/solder when it is in its solid state.

Whatever you do DONT just put bb's in there and let them roll freely, eventually they will wear out your wheels and tires. Granted it takes a long time, but why take the chance? stick on wheel weights are crazy cheap, and easy to work with.

So how much weight is everyone running in each front wheel on average? I've heard people running anywhere from like 4 oz to 1 lb per front wheel. I'd assume an extra lb in each front wheel would help tons in breakover traction while climbing, but at the same time, does it kill your power having to turn an extra 2lbs of total rotating mass on a truck that was 5lbs to start with? Also, does that much weight kill your steering servo? Is 6oz per front wheel a good place to start for all around performance and parts longevity? Would 6oz be very noticable while driving/climbing?
