Default Help with understanding what is needed to run Lipo...

Okay, i just got my first RC vehicle recently. A few friends have helped me get going and the local RC shop has been more than happy to sell me anything I have a CR-01 with a Tenkin FXR-Pro ESC with 55T motor combo, a low buck steering servo that needs replace, and a older non-2.4g trans. I currently run 6 cell 7.2, but I wonder what I need to run Lipo. My charger is a DNY 230 and can do Lipo.

So set me straight with some RC knowledge cause i want to modify a comp chassis for competitions using my current running gear. The mechanical and building stuff I am okay with, it is the electronics that are sending me for a loop.
