| What to get?
Ok this is my first post just wanted to say hi. JUst getting started in to the Rc world looking at getting a RTC or one used. I found this one. I have a Custom built AX10 Scorpion, purchased new and built 2 months ago. it has a Bender custom SWX Chassis Pro line Chevy C10 crawler body Integy Motor plate Super Soft spring's with 15 Weight shock oil Axial High Radius Aluminum Knuckles, Aluminum C Hubs, Heavy duty steel Axels. Rear Solid Axel conversion kit from Axial (Aluminum) MIP Heavy Duty drive shafts(Steel) NOVAK BRUSHLESS GOAT Crawler motor and ESC Stock Tires, Wheels are Weighted allready Comes with HITEC 5625MG steering servo which has good torque for rock crawling. I have a bunch of spare parts that were originally from the kit that have been changed out. Crawler does not come with Transmitter or reciever. I have original box, and a Pro Line Tuber Chassis 450$ cdn. Sould i just get the used one and buy the radio and other to finish? Last edited by jamiebob; 06-11-2009 at 01:07 PM. |

If you are just starting, I'm guessing you don't have a radio or anything else right? Might be better to start with a base and then build as you need it. The RTC is an excellent platform that comes ready to rock. The only things you need are batteries and a battery charger. The best deal I've found online is through TheCrawlerStore - the RTC is like $237 through them right now. |

That sounds like a nice set-up, but....if you're just starting out, and not sure that you're going to like crawling I'd recomend starting with either an ARTR or a RTC. the used one you found has alot of nice components but probably way more truck than a first time crawler needs IMHO (no offence intended).

Yup I would just get a RTC new and upgrade it as you need to. Get a charger and batteries and start crawlin. As oyu get used to it you will figure out what needs upgrading. If you can afford it go ahead od go lipo and pick up either a Tekin FXR or a castle sidewinder.

Welcome to the addiction!! That sound's like a sweet deal to me. I would suggest that you go a little cheaper for your first rig but you'll probably never put the thing down! If you buy all them goodies from the LHS the price would be alot steeper than that. Plus you could find an Rx/Tx pretty cheap. I'd say go for it! If ya ever want to go crawlin' I'm in Red Deer so shoot me a PM.
