Default Inverted shocks good or bad?

Other then lowering the weight by flipping the oil side of a shock down, are there reasons for not inverting the shocks on an ax10 or losi style shock? Venting, valve function/rate or any other problems experienced?

Thanks from an ignorant newbie!:-P

The shocks I've tried, haven't shown any ill effects from running upside down. I ran some CEN piggybacks a long time ago, seemed to work fine upside down. Twin Force shocks work fine upside down. Pede shocks work fine upside down. Jato's,seem to work fine upside down. Others, not real sure

The ones I tried leaked. I think they were Maxx and I assumed the o-rings must have dried out from not having oil around them all the time.

sometimes the steel shaft in the shock weighs more than the oil filled plastic body and inverting it doesn't help with CG at all, it actually hurts it.

We used to invert them on the RC-10, when we ran internal spacers. This kept the piston down and in the oil and allowed for even damping throughout the shock travel range. (the air rises to the top, where the piston can't go, due to the internal spacer)

I inverted min on the front of my crawler to allow for alittle more space for the batter-on-axle setup. I hadn't even thought of the lower COG.

I run mine upside down, and seems to work great unless your tires are rubbing against the spring adjusters, then it can REALLY screw with your preload.

Thanks for all the responses, I guess it will be a problem to run the new axial shocks from the rtc inverted, I beleive that they are vented, correct? Probably not good upside down with vents:-(
