first attempt at a semi-droop/droop So i decided to droop/semi droop my rig. i used spacers, made from a squirt bottle from under the kitchen sink:mrgreen: i cut them accordingly and now am testing them. tell me what you guys think, im still testing it. its a work in progress but i like how it works drooping like it is. tell me if theres something missing, thanks guys!"thumbsup""thumbsup" http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...stomz/rc-1.jpg http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...tomz/rcc-1.jpg http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...ustomz/awe.jpg http://i592.photobucket.com/albums/t...tomz/cra-1.jpg |
dude thats sick, does it work? |
yeah man, im trying to figure it out, i cut those spacers to a 1/2 inch length but im going tto add another little one. because my front arms are at a sligh angle, just a hair, downwards to my skid plate. its just testing to do now, but yeah i like it a lot. my CG is SOOOO much lower"thumbsup", the only thing that makes me roll now is when i wedge my tires between a rock and torque twist flips me over:mrgreen::mrgreen::twisted: |
Oh and from the ground up to my skid plate, it measures at 1 and 3/4's inches.(is that too low?) |

That's a good place to start, just keep an eye on your articulation - as you add more limit to the shock travel flex will decrease, which can be a good thing if you've got too much. Some crawling on your local rocks will really tell you. Like you said, "it's just testing to do now." (The funnest part.) |
Nice setup. That does seem a little low. I don't run droop though cuz I'm pretty happy with my sprung setup. I tend to try not and go any lower than 2 1/2 inches. Any lower than that and it seems to get hung up way to much. Not enough break over angle. Good luck lets us know how it works. Oh and when your tire is wedged in the rocks thats not really torque twist. Its just the fact that the tire is stuck and the torque will flip the rig cuz that engergy has to go somewhere. It'll even happen on a Berg or anything else for that matter. No way to get around it except don't get stuck in between the rocks lol. |
oh i would never let myself get too much articulation. im not someone who worships that:D im keepin it just enough to get around. thanks for the tips, always good to have some confidence what im doing is getting me somewhere! |
your welcome hi-po"thumbsup" (he has pen springs in the chamber) |
actually im not running pen springs yet! gotta go pick pack of pens up tomorrow :idea: then ill throw those in:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen: |
well you will be! |

There are all kinds of compression & extension springs in the box."thumbsup" I use it all the time to mess with droop setups, best $5 I ever spent:mrgreen: |
well next weekend i'll have my new CC so i am gonna run it with springs while i'm visiting family/camping and when i get home i'm gonna try out the full droop setup. I am new to this thing but not new to driving offroad. I'll just apply some of the principles I have learned in my Jeep. I figure the more flex you have the more tires you have on the ground at all times! I get hung up in a lot of situations in my Jeep when I have a rear tire in the air because of my lack of flex. |
i did it to my rs10 today and its freakin insane, i still got the same ride hight and a bit more fex it great:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen: |
I'm running a mostly droop setup using the TCS medium internal springs, external hardware store springs and 70wt oil on stock Axial shocks. Replace the tubing on the shaft so you have some compression for when you do drop offs or have to jump something. I also run a washer on top of the shock end just to give the spring something to ride on. I have 5/8" of compression...this is working great for me with my Black Widow chassis. Ground clearance is just under 3". At rest: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-...0604090739.jpg Compressed: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-...0604090740.jpg Extended: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-...0604090741.jpg http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-...0604090736.jpg |
Oh...to help fight TT, run one of your rear links above and one below the link plate. Right side of the pic: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-...0604090738.jpg |
