Default Is wider better on an AX10?

New to the sport and just planning some projects. I'm working on a bone stock AX10. I plan on the normal upgrades but I an wondering if widening the track is worth doing. I have seen the kits that extend the wheels out 15mm each. What are the +'s and -'s of this mod? Thanks in advance.

IMO the 15mm is to much..I like my rigs around 10 3/8 or 10 1/2 ..Some guys like them narrower ...It is a personnel preference thing

A wider stance will take more of an angle to roll you over. But that same wider stance may not be able to squeeze in places that narrower rigs can...it's a balance of your preferences.

I prefer to run mine at 10" TW. It is a good balance. I have a GC of 2-7/8" and with the 10" TW it is very stable and can still squeze though the gates at an angle.

yes and no it helps and hurts. narrower rigs can make some thin passes but can side hill as wide as some of the wider rigs. but the wider rigs side hill better but they can get hung up on the diffs a little bit easier

alot of it is also going to depend not only on total weight of your rig but the center of gravity. I know some run as narrow as 9.65" and love it. They run light rigs with a very low CG too though. Its a balancing act so to speak. Get the weight low and the width won't matter as much. I can sidehill with the best of them so don't let width be decided so much by that. If you get the weight low and run most of your weight at the axles including in the tires you don't need near as much width. I hope this helps.
