Default metal idler gear in pede tranny

alright, i searched and found this thread- Quick Pede tranny question, but it seemed unanswered. my question is, how many people here are running the metal idler gear, and the metal top gear togethger? and is there any radio noise from that combo?

I just built my latest Pede tranny using both metal gears, I haven't tried it yet though. I just lubed the gears, as Highmark suggested in the thread you linked, so we'll see what happens.

thanks alot man, thats exactly what i was looking for! i was curious about the directions on tower when they said that a new plastic top gear would be needed to run with the aluminum, because then the top gear would always strip out instead of the idler gear.

mmm whats the benefit of using metal gear in the pedetranny?
When you use it for crawling you don't put that
much strain in it, do you???
Never happened nothing to my pedetranny's.
