RC4WD 90mm dual spring shocks too stiff
 

I got 4 of RC4WD's 90mm dual spring scale shocks for my AX10, X-trail rig. The shocks look awesome but they're really stiff, both in terms of the included springs and the friction of the shafts. I filled them with 30wt shock oil and then bled them until they had sufficient movement, but they still have a very high initial resistance. I mounted them inboard of the frame rails because they're so stiff that there was basically no flex with them outboard. The rig is still too stiff, it doesn't articulate to the physical limits under its own weight. So, since I'm still very new at all this:

What weight of shock oil should I have in these? My rig is a typical x-trail converted AX-10 with a NiMh battery, so it's probably of average mass.

Should I put softer springs in, and if so, where can I find the right ones?

What can I do to make these shocks slide more smoothly?

A lot of people get those shocks only put a couple of drops of oil in then to keep them lubed up. If they are still to stiff you can get some RC18 springs to tune them.
