I think the best place for you to look for the questions you have, and probably some you don't even know you have yet is the Holmes Hobbies section of the Vendor's Market.

There aren't really any clear advantages to a brushless system. It used to be that with brushless, you got all the torque you needed plus it had plenty of top end so you had all the wheelspeed you needed.

Now with these 35T handwound brushed motors and 11.V lipo, you still get all the torque you need and plenty of wheelspeed.

Not sure if you could call it an advantage, but with a Novak brushless system, you can get just about as much wheelspeed on less voltage as the 35T brushed motors have on 11.1V and still have plenty of torque.

Brushless motors are almost 100% maintenance free. With brushed motors, you have to take care of the brushes and springs to keep the motor in top shape.

Puller motors are brushed motors with a very long can/armature that produce TONS of torque and TONS of top end. Due to the long can, they sometimes won't fit depending on the application.

The problem with brushless setups in a crawler is low speed control. I'm still waiting for good sensored crawler motor.
