Default Axial Scorpion help needed

Hey Guys,

This is my first post and I just finished building my first Rock Crawler! Everything seemed to go together fine, but I am having a couple of issues that I was hoping someone here could help me with.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge...

1. As soon as I put my receiver batteries in, the car comes alive. The small on/off switch between the receiver and the speed controller is in the off position, but the green light on the speed controller is on, and the servo is active. I have to remove one of the aa batteries to turn the car off.

2. The forward acceleration is very responsive, but reverse stalls. It's a good second or two before the car begins to move. Is that normal?

Other than that, everything seems great. I am getting the body ready to paint right now. Thanks in advance for any help!

jeff

ps- I have a futaba 2ph-am controller and a duratrax intellispeed speed controller.

You don't normally need receiver batteries. The receiver and servos get their power from the main battery pack, through the speed controller (ESC).
Disconnect the receiver pack and see what happens.

Most ESCs have a delay of a couple of seconds before they switch to reverse. Moving the trigger from forward to reverse gives a braking effect. Once stationary, release the trigger, then push it forward again to reverse.

Hey Clockworks, thanks for the info! I am now running everything off of the main battery and it is working just fine. The switch actually turns everything on and off now. I'm also happy to get rid of the extra wires and weight from the second battery pack. Thanks for the help! Also good to know that the reverse situation is normal. Just need to get used to it I guess. Thanks again!
