| Re: TIPS, TRICKS, and MORE INFORMATION THAN A NEWBIE CAN HANDLE Sensored brushless is really needed for crawlers, otherwise you get low speed cogging which is not good. Keep in mind, going sensored drives up the price of the motor & ESC. Most of us run brushed since they work well in crawlers. The exception is rigs with worm drives, they are hard on motors so brushless is a good fit. |

I agree with Mike and Charlie. The key issues are: - What rig do you have? - What do you want from it, in terms of low speed torque and top speed? - How much money are you willing to spend? As you can see in my sig I run a 35T brushed in my LCC because it's cheap, but for me it's slow. I plan to go brushless (motor, ESC and programmer), but it will cost me some $250 purchase, plus international shipping and an additional 25% sales tax on top of that. Had I not been running a crawler with worm drives I'd stick to brushed motors, but got a higher quality one... |

Hey man the best bang for your buck might be an exceed mad torque I have had a few minor issues with mine but they are easy fixs the only thing I recomend when you buy it. Is that you also buy an esc for it because mine burnt out within a week of my having it but so far its been fine working on building a tuber chassi for it and getting rid of the plastic steering knuckles and when you look to upgrade it you can also use some parts off of a axail ax10 which is a better brand with better quality parts

No bam don't splice it into the other! This happens sometimes and you're using fairly cheap packs. Just nip it off and charge it as a nimh and keep an eye on it. It'll last a long while more. Or if you are a lipo paranoid guy just dispose of it and replace it.

FACEPALM........ There really isn't a difference between charging it on nimh and charging on lipo without the balance plug. Yes eventually the pack will get off balance and likely swell.

Another "maybe..." hit-or-miss option could be to somewhat carefully open the hardcase and solder the lose lead back where it came from. Can cause more damage though, if you happen to short something or damage a cell casing. |

As mentioned, a short NiMH/NiCD charge is to bring up a very low LiPO pack so a charger will charge in a LiPO setting. PS, if the broken wire was the end one, you could attach it to the heavier wire to fix the balance port. Since it's the middle one, you would have to open the case and attach back on the cell. These are usually soldered with "lead free" solder which requires a fair amount of heat to melt. Last edited by Charlie-III; 10-19-2013 at 06:51 AM. | ||
