| a dig locks up the back axle so you can turn and not take up so much space and it also helps when you get in a tough spot so you dont flip over your front axle ends up pulling you up its pretty cool |

It helps mainly in comps because most crawlers can't turn very sharp. Sometimes the gates in a course are close together you can't make the turn without reversing.A dig is used to help you turn sharper to make the gate. Therefore not getting the reverse penalty. This is just one use. Yes you could set it up to make one driveshaft turn freely. Thus 2wd then engage it then 4wd.

you need a 3 ch 3 postion to run a dig with the freewheel option (i.e. 2wd) or just a 3 ch to run 4wd and dig.

In regards to parts for a dig - say - an axial, do you just purchase the dig itself, and then a servo? and that's it? Thanks!

Thanks Salmonshark. I'm just learning about these BECs. So quick question - Can you use the same BEC for the steering servo AND the dig servo? If so, do you need the special programing, or can you just buy it for $20 - read the manual, and hook it up? Thanks! |

just buy it and connect it up. The only programming you need is using a castle link USB cable to change the voltage if desired. Or some places (eg holmes hobbies) can preset it to your preferred voltage for you (I had mine set to 6v) It can drive both your servos. You just split the power from the battery into the BEC, then the output from the bec plugs into your Rx. The only other thing you need to do is pull out the red wire from the esc-Rx cable, to make sure the Rx only gets power from the BEC. Thats it! the BEC comes with a diagram explaining it too. |
