Default Absolute cheapest elec. options for the Losi CC?

Hello All,

I'm currently looking at a new crawler (upgrading from a Goliath) and my set-up now is:
Traxxas XL-5 ESC
Axiom 55t
Hitec 645
Traxxas TQ3

From what I've searched, I can't transfer the 55t motor over and that is fine, I'll need a new motor. Will this ESC work though with a lower turn motor in the Losi CC? Just for the time being? It's not for comp - just dinking around.
I know this set-up will work in an Axial, and the Axial is cheaper - so I'm really leaning towards a Axial. But I know I will eventually want the Losi, but I just can't spend another $125.00 on top of the cost of the crawler. Any suggestions?
Thanks guys - all input is appreciated.

Okay, so to throw something else into the mix - would I just be better off going with the Axial RTC? I didn't even know that Axial came out with this until a few minutes ago? I'm confused!!!!!!!

Someone tell me which way to go! (cheapest route is always better of course)

I don't want to purchase the Axial RTC - then have to dump $300.00 in parts in order to get it in the same category as the Losi CC.
Can I just add a dig to the Axial for $60.00 and be done?

Thanks! With which ESC? Any overheating? Is steering decent with the 645?

Every post I see on the Losi CC - people have crap-tons of money in electronics into them. I don't think I'v ever seen a "budget" Losi CC. Only every other crawler. Thanks!

CCBEC - castle creations battery elimination circuit - about 26 dollars canadian new. It allows your servo to draw power directly from your main battery without having to go through your ESC. So it reduces load on your ESC, and allows you to run more current to your servo so it can run at its max. potential. The CCBEC is also programmable via the castle link connection.

The ccbec can handle 7amp continuous draw if voltage is under 12V which is higher than most/many crawler specific ESC's on board BECs. Novak Rooster crawler's BEC for example can do 5amp draw at 6V.

Wow. That is nifty. Didn't you used to have to run a seperate pack through your receiver? (haven't been in this hobby for a few years).
I'll have to research it. I would assume any ESC will work with this?
And do you HAVE to do some programing? Or can you just buy the thing and wire it in?
Thanks!

just bite the bullet and get the losi. Chances are best that you wont regret it. A few have gotten dissalusioned with it during a very painful growing pains phase. Many burnt up motors and other electronics, I think this was due in most part to a bad spool gear problem. I infact had the bad spools, but with the help of a temp gauge, I never burnt anything but a titan I didn't care about. Many have been waiting a long time to get this crawler and intended to spend big dollars. You absolutely don't have to. I know this will work with what you have. Just enjoy whatever you choose, do not look back.

According to the XL-5 info page it has a 15-turn motor limit for 540 size motors.

Yea, I know it's good to 15t - I'm just worried about burning it up
Okay - dang. I found a $100 deal on a rolling Axial chassis (well - minus wheels/tires cause I already have them) and that is sounds really good right now. Ahhh!!! Hmmm. Okay, I've got some thinking to do LOL...
I told myself that when I got the free Goliath - I'll just use it how it is, and not buy anything else.....3 months later.....I should have known.

it might burn up..its not a crawler esc..but have heard about crawler esc's burning up...but any esc in a load, tires arn't turning, full throttle...somthings junna give...

its like asking what axles won't break, or what tires won't wear...sooner or later, thats the luck of the draw.

I have a scaler with a MM and the same servo you have...it does its job..am I looking at BEC..you bet.

Checkout dezfans ESC sticky on the Moped ESC. Very capable esc especially for the $30 price tag.

I ran it for a while with a 21t titan and 13tooth pinion on 2s on my Losi Comp Crawler.

my run time is about 30- 45 mins depending, and a cc- bec unit is just a servo regulator, its about 20 bucks its made by castle creations (cc)

if you can get and axial for $100 you can then have money to upgrade it a little bit which might be better in the long run, I got the losi lcc when it came out and already sold it because the worm drive didnt suit my driven style
