| waterproofing esc and servo
as the title, Just wanted to ask how to waterproof servo and esc for my truck. i saw some videos and they were using marine grease to grease out the servo gearing and the round gap near the servo horn. plus, plasti dip to seal the whole servo case. problem is i can't find marine grease or plasti dip here. is there any other products that works the same? thanks |

I think the main plasti-dip purpose is to protect the bottom portion of the servo, so instead of plasti dip I think you can try any silicon sealant to protect cap unions! about the grease... there are some automotive ones, like the one for suspension bushings... I do believe that one won't affect your plastic pieces good luck man and keep us posted! same as me... can't get plasti dip so I'm going to find out an alternative way so your finds will be welcome for sure! |

| CorrosionX is great stuff! You would have to go to a local Hardware store. Ace, turner, Truevalue those might have it. I never found it at a big box place.

If you cant find plastidip, just pack the entire servo case with dielectric grease. Its waterproof, non conductive , removable ( warranty?)and works great! Pack enough in there that it oozes out when you close the case. A little RTV around the case seams, an O-ring (greased) or 2 under the servo horn will stretch around the output and form a seal. Liquid electrical tape can be found many places and is awesome too! BTW you'll have to CUT all the plastidip off to replace or fix anything in the servo. That's why I like dielectric and silicone RTV. Receiver in a balloon, ziptied 3 times with dielectric grease between the ties. Same with the ESC. Liquid electric tape on all connections. Now go swimmin'! |

You can use any flexible silicone product really. Bathroom sealant works quite well I hear. I used Loctite superflex black silicone. Product number 5940 on my steering servo. |

| http://www.mcmaster.com/#conformal-coatings/=3cg7tw Realize this is a US company, and it would be a chemical that your shipping, but a manufacturing supply company down under should be able to supply the same or comparable chems. |
