How much do you guys spend on your scale rigs?

Anywhere from a couple hundred bucks to infinity...

The price of a scale rig is pricless . Well that is untill your broke and need cash . Or untill someone comes along with more money than brains . Yep I think that covers it . "thumbsup"

the thing to remember is not only the man hours that go into them but the parts the parts alone can cost up to 800, most good scalers go from about 800-1200 and really good ones can go from like 1200 to 3000

I already have 800 in my hilux and the chassis is not built and i'm still collecting parts.

Are you serious? I started a scaler just cause it seemed cheaper. If you already have axles, a tranny, and electronics, and wheels then it's almost free in parts (for me) In my bronco buggy thread I bought a HPI gear reduction, driveshafts, and now I need to possibly buy a t case (if I can't make one) Not much at all. And if you have a previous rock crawler you can just convert it for nothing. You got to build stuff, not buy a stupid tvp ladder chassis that isnt even scale, or a dumb tamiya hi lift or a vintage bruiser. Making the stuff is the best part "thumbsup"

AS much as you want...IMO the SCX-10 is a real real good starting point!!

Depends on what you want. Size, quality and purpose are all factors.
You could spend a wad of cash on a high quality kit with all the bells and wistles, not to mention the electronics ect. Or you could get a good RTR and bit by bit, add whatever upgrades you need to make your own custom rig, and if your'e handy you can fabricate parts and accessories to save on costs and showcase your skills and idea's."thumbsup"

I think I have at the most $250 in my scaler. It's built from my ax10 comp build leftovers & mostly used parts bought from RCC classifieds. It has used ax10 axles,steel lockers,STRC knuckles,used x-trail,used HPI stock car wheels w/G8 FlatIrons,used ax10 trans,used Ambush body,new Western bumpers,misc links,STRC Delrin skid,used Losi xx-t shocks in droop,used 645mg,used Slash ESC,new Slash r/x box,& a used Tq2. Soon to be upgraded to a $20 modded Tq3 with a $15 645mg winch. It's does quite well. I hope my "in progress" K2-5 wheels just as good"thumbsup"

Even on a tight budget it's possible to build a half decent scaler, all together this has about $250 into it, started life as a WK and after adding salvaged, repaired or homemade parts this is how it looks.

2. The more that you can fabricate yourself, the cheaper that the build is.

best bang for the buck is a tossup between the scx10...
and tamiya cc-01.

I went for the "cheap as possible, but still looks good and works well" theme. I have a good amount time in this, but probably have less than $200 including esc, batt & servo.

one of the reasons I learned how to braze, brake line is cheap. of course the best reason for that is you get to build it the way YOU want it and aren't held to limits with any frames "thumbsup"
