| What's squat?
I read through the newbie faq/glossary and didn't find it. I see the term being said a lot though. What is it? How does it affect the crawler handling/performance? (or is it always anti-squat?) |

squat = chassis lowers (squats) under power anti-squat = chassis raises under power If rear has squat, crawler wants to flip over backwards on climbs. If front has squat, crawler will "suck down" on front for traction & steering on climbs. Of course downhills are another problem, too much squat/anti-squat is a also a bad thing. Raising or lowering the link mounts. Adjusting the squat is usually done by adjusting the upper mounts....either at the axle or at the chassis. Lower links are generally for setting wheelbase....uppers are for pinion angle, caster angle and squat.

Do you want more squat or anti-squat for the front or rear? Most folks like anti-squat in the rear and they move their upper links chassis mounts up a bit... Here's a bit more info on suspension tech: Anti Squat and Suspension Tech Last edited by JeremyH; 08-29-2009 at 03:04 PM. |

To answer the question on how to remove the "squat" from a (any linked) vehicle. Adjust the upper links where the links attach to the chassis. The farther up on the chassis the less squat you have.
