I have a Tundra on an axial scx10. Check out the vendors section I know rpp has the scx10 on sale right now, and rc4wd and mtd have plenty of custom parts to build one, or you could build your own frameand go from there. Thats my.02

I have the same question, and it been going around in my head for ages. I need to just close my eyes and pick one. Here are the options I'm considering. 1) Tamiya High lift. Its the chassis that comes with the hilux or Tundra (I'm going for a Tundra) so its designed to work with it. Should be a simple but fun build after my CR01, and I'm tempted with the MFC for sound effects + lights. + all in one box; designed to go together; nice looks IMO - bit high for a more standard truck; low ground clearance with the transmission 2) Tamiya CC01. Seems a lot of people use this for scale trail trucks for its scale looks and wheel arches etc. + scale looks; good performance even some crawling; - too simple build (for me maybe); wheelbase too short and needs lengthening 3) SCX10. Good scale chassis, also capable crawler. + scale looks; performance - axles too wide for the high lift bodies (can you fit high lift axles?); needs wheelbase lengthening (but easy enough with standard axial parts); needs way to mount body to chassis I have no idea. I'll probably end up going the easy route and buying the full high lift Tundra kit, and then separately practice with other chassis (maybe SCX10). I'm not confident to scratch build something or even mix up two kits yet so building the kit will give me a runner quickly and then I can practice with no time pressure |
