Default loud R2 tranny

Hey everyone, my new rig has a r2 tranny on it, it works great but its REALLY LOUD! i mean really loud, my other r2 isnt as loud, its greased and it seems to be fine, but why so loud? are r2's notorious for being loud?

your pinion mess is prolly too tight. When I first ran mine years back I couldnt figure out what was wrong and was told to loosen it and all the sudden I could hear again. Also, some Gear Jelly helps allot with noise and wear.

Open up the clear cover and check it, also I had the motor can hitting one of the bolts that hold the tranny together. That depends on the size of your pinion gear. Hope this helps.

Mine was loud and then I stripped out the gear that meshes with the pinion. Then I stripped the gear on the front output. With those replaced, it much more quiet. I'd open your case up and see whats going on. I'd clean all the gears and re lube if they are in good shape.

watch how deep the screws go into the case when its mounted.
they can come in contact with the gears on the inside.
