It will shorten run time somewhat. If you have room you can always add a bigger mah battery..
I run a puller 500 with a High voltage JR 8711 and a Full size hitec 645 for my dig< with a 1300 mah battery it will run around 20 minutes.

I would definately get the FXR combo. The speed control is tiny and It runs 3s Lipo. I have 2 in my MOA with HH 45T torque masters and it works excellent. In regards to batteries I would buy these.

Hyperion Gen 3 Lipos
