| Why droop suspension
Why is a droop suposed to work better then sprung? I see these springs http://rcpcrawlers.com/product.php?p...0&cat=0&page=1 and I think for 10 bucks why not try it out? |

Droop doesn't necessarily work better. It is just something else you can try out. It's not something that everyone likes or dislikes. Like many things in crawling it's just a personal preference. Droop will get your center of gravity lower. You place the spring inside the shock body, underneath the piston. This reverses the normal shock position. So when at rest, the shock is in the normally compressed state. The thing to watch out for is during climbs the front shocks will tend to unload, causing the CoG to raise and the front will not grab as well. That is where the testing and tuning will come in to suite your needs. |

Sorry to thread steal, but I am trying to 60/40 droop some axial shocks. Can anyone walk me through it? |

again not to thread jack but do people use a combination of droop and spring over shocks? like a larger droop style in the rear and a normal style in the front?

i tried it on my ax10. it worked better than the kit stock settings. but i couldn't stand the torq twist. so i started testing new outer springs and got it working better than droop with less twist.

Replace the outside spring with one on the inside of the shock body, I used a BIC pen spring myself for my little Losi.

i didnt use any springs on my droop setup. just 80wt with #1 pistons. and fuel tubing inside and out to limit travel.

I've been using 150wt fluid in aluminum bodied axial AX10 shocks and am very happy with it (on a shaft rig). It will unload at times but seems to be a happy meduim for my driving style. I am running 60/40 link set up also with it.

I use 1000wt oil in my stock axial shocks with hardware store springs under the piston inside. I also use one stock rubber spacer outside the shock to get my ride height where I want it. I tried many different weights oil and spring rates until I got it how I like it. Another thing to consider is converting to 4-link. It allows you to change the geometry to create more pro-squat. But thats another thread.... |

I know how to fully droop the axial shocks, I ran them on my tag chassis, but how do you do a 60/40 droop

I run a 80/20 droop setup w/heavy oil and inner springs. i really like it and won't go back to a full sprung setup again,it makes for very realistic suspension movement and it's fun to watch it cycle. Torque twist is easy to control as well,do a search on the topic and you'll find at least 4 threads of tech info. |
