Tekin fxr motor combo
Hobbico cs-170 servo
re using my Jr xr3 radio
re using my nimh batteries (for now)

or should I get the

Axial rtc

Hardware kit
or upgrade parts as needed

I also have a chance to get a mini rock crawler w/ extra body and 2 extra sets of wheels and high clearence links for $150

What would you guys do ?

does that seem like a pretty good setup and what about the losi is that a good price?
I just found
Axial Scorpion with CKRC updates Losi Rock Claws on Proline rims, Novak esc and motor, Hitec servo, Futaba radio, Lipo batt, Proline Rockstar body for $300 maybe this even better depending on the specs of the esc and motor and stuff ???????

if your old nimh are sub-c size plan on swapping them out for something smaller. if you want to stick to nimh go with the 2/3a size cells. but if you want the best get a 1100-1300 lipo i got mine for $20. and mount it on either the front axle or front top link.

I started with the 2/3a split pack. When I switched my chassis to a DNA Slingshot the front servo mount was made for lipo's. So instead of buying all new bateries I re-shrinkwrapped the batteries together into one hump pack so they would fit. You could also just electrical tape them together. I havent seen a Nimh pack for a crawler that wasnt a split saddle pack. I may be wrong though.

I dont have a lipo chager. I just got back from the lhs and like the triton. It sells for 129 so for now I think I am going to run the nimh untill my wife buys something then she wont be to mad when I spend more$$$. When you say 2/3 what do you meen. I saw they have a 6 cell split in half stacked and also a 7 cell nimh

the 2/3a refers to a smaller cell battery. it's the same type they use in mini's(like 18th scales).
Here's a link to the maxamps 2/3a packs. they aren't the cheapest, but gives you an idea what you're looking for..
