so are you running like a gp1100 12 pack then?

I think the 10 pack of 3300 sub c is a great deal (around $28 after shipping).
And they are separate, so you can solder how you like. I was thinking maybe a front and rear 5 on the axles to distribute the weight better.

No, I am running AA because they are lighter. You can get some AA in 2500 mah

the subC are fine and will save some weight over stock batt (weighs 3 pounds)
My batt I think weighs 1 pound and li-po are not much lighter. I basically took the approach to get the max mah for the lightest package.

Default Charging SLA batteries

Hey folks.

I just wanted to share some info I've been collecting.
My Nylint 1:6 Jeep is fun but battery life is an issue. I think that the batteries are OK but the charge times are just horrible.

What I found was that companies are cheap on the chargers to keep their margins low.
Consequently, my Nylint Crawler says the 12V battery charges in 8 hours.
Oddly, the spare battery and charger (with duplicate specs) has an instruciton manual that says 12 hrs.

I did some digging and finally found a website that was tailored for Quick charging of (SLA) Sealed Lead Acid batteries. It looks like the type of battery used by the nylint is more like a scooter or power wheels device than your standard RC cars that run on NiCADs.

Here's the info:

>http://www.powerstream.com/Scooter.htm has the EA1046(51) which will charge that battery in
>about an hour and a half. You would have to figure out how to connect this to the battery, it has
>a barrel connector as it is shipped.

A pro grade charger with a charge time of 1-1/2 hrs copared to 8-12hrs sound real nice. Now I need to figure out if its worth $69 + shipping to me.

Here's the tehcincal details that gave me confidence in their site:
How to Charge Sealed Lead Acid Batteries ... http://www.powerstream.com/SLA.htm

check on ebay for nimh 3300, you will see a 10 cell pack (not soldered together yet).

you can get a charger that will charge 5 cells and create 2 packs that link for the truck.

the 3300 will give you close to 1hr runtime I would bet!

floog, how long are your AAs lasting?

the key to a new battery is weight and dimensions I would say. you can really do a great TT with nimh batteries, or even nicad if you wanted.

the sealed lead acid are just too bulky and way too heavy.

Actually, I am working on a mod to still use the stock battery. It will simply move it forward and lay it down so you will get a nice tummy tuck. It will be similar to a lot of the stick builds really.

I just need time to work on it is all!

Mine seems to like the 3 lb. battery better. More flex when it is sitting at proper weight. It can pull me across the garage in a wagon so I am not worried about power loss due to weight.

if you are going to build a sub-c pack, make sure you dont charge it with the stock charger...

i would put 6 cells on the front axle and 4 on the rear......

my F&F battery hasn't let me down yet though, and it fits perfectly inside my chassis

WAY to many volts......find us a 12 volt battery that is that size and we will all love you! 8000mah is almost double what the stock battery is
