Well i would definitely go for metal gears, and something around 80oz of torque or more if you want a reliable servo that can steer the wheels well. OR you can always just get a cheaper servo around 40oz of torque with plastic gears, i would honestly recommend the hitec HS-625MG or the HS-645MG they are nice servos that are cheap enough ($35-$40). OR if you want waterproof there is the traxxas servo with 80oz of torque for about $14 (no servo horns included) that i saw at my hobby shop, not sure if the gears are metal though.

if this a servo for steering - I have JR 8711 which works well and I also have a Hitec 7955tg that is also real good. I would recommend Both. They are in the 330 oz torque range which should give you plenty of power steering on the rocks. I beleive airtronics makes a high torque one too but have never used it. Hope this helps. As far as ESC's I have a castle mamba max which works well. The Tekin FXR is a bit cheaper and from what I hear has an awesome drag brake. |

futaba s9175. it will move my entire car sideways instead of not moving if my tires are bound up. do a lot of reasearch on what you buy. you will find alot of complaints about the JR's and hitecs getting sloppy or needing to replace parts after a month or two. so whats suggested to everyone to fix their problem a futaba servo. im only biased because i spent a ton of hours the last 2 weeks researching servos and electronics

DUDE.... If your a pimp the only way to go is the 7950 with a castle bec wired in turned up to 7 volts that is more power then you need then you will just start ripping rod ends apart (that is super comp rig status!!!)

Holly crap guys, the stock servo is rated at like 90 oz I think, and it is pretty weak, but aren't you guys breaking stuff at 350-400+ oz?

This is what I've been running, and no issues. Granted, its not a comp rig, but for bashing around it seems to do the trick. | |
