Default 3 wire ESC help

I am working on one of my 1st ever scale truck build and i bought a hitec HFX ESC and when i got home and opened the box there were only 3 wires??? The only problem is that i dont know how to wire the battery and the motor, i know that you have to connect the red to the motor and batt, but i just dont know where to solder the new wire or is i should just strip the single red wire into 2.

Oh and one more question do you need motor connectors or can you just solder it to the standard wires on the esc?

If you google Hitec HFX the first thing that comes up is a wiring diagram. Just follow that and you will be good to go...

both ways are acceptable..deans are a good quality connector so you wont be losing power and it makes mtr changes convenient
