What is your price range? Your best bet would be a Spektrum radio, I have had real good luck with them over the years.

Youre good with the DX3E not unless if youre planning to use it with other rigs which you cant since this is only a 1 model memory radio.

Do yourself a favor and buy new Futaba 3PM-MX. It is the the cheapest 2.4 radio that is fully functional and set up for a dig system.

X2... I have the 4PK which is the big brother to this radio and I love it! And don't forget... you probably want to buy a TX you can grow into rather than out of otherwise the money you put in today may just be a waste tomorrow.

X3...
I have a DX6i for air and just bought the 3PM MX for surface. I looked into the spektrum but for the price and functions I couldn't pass the MX up. Great radio and price..

Totally agree the functionality of the this radio is great, plus it is definitely a radio you can hang on to for a while with all the mixing modes available.
The price tag is between 150-180. but well worth it.

In my opinion this radio seems to be at par with the traxxas 2.4 system, while it is a great radio to have on the market, and a great thing to see compared to the DX3R and its 300 price tag, I dont think its a worth while investment, the one model memory and quality it is made with just isn't enough.
If I were you I would be better off just getting a 27mhz system then a cheap 2.4ghz system. Seems like a waste of money to not get something you can hang on too.
Not to mention spectrums binding issues...
Just my opinion.
