Default Custom Chassis Advice

I'm thinking about taking a spare set of WK axles and trans and making a sportsman rig out of them. I have enough spare parts all I would really need to spend cash on is a chassis, Rx, body, and maybe a battery but money is pretty tight right now and I decided to try and make my own. My intial thoughts were to try and mix the stock WK and LCC chassis designs together on paper and maybe mix in a little of that DNA chassis for the WK to boot (narrow with the remote motor location!) then chop it out of a cutting board. I'll also be using some very basic tools to make it aswell. Is there any threads on here I need to look at before I even begin this project?

Thanks!

Me and one of my crawling buddies both made custom chassis' for our rigs out of delrin sheet. Delrin is super easy to cut with just simple tools and the sheet we bought was big enough to make 3 sets of chassis plates each. We both used a jeweler's saw, a cordless drill, a dremel tool, and a hacksaw for our skid. The skid was made out of a 1/4'' lexan cutting board from wal-mart. There are plenty of other threads regarding custom chassis'...take a look around. Here's the thread my friend made:
