Question Pede or Rustler tranny?

Are these the same trannys? I heard that they are different. Everyone seems to use th Stampede. Please let me know so I can get started on my truck. Thanks!

i dont think the grasshopper shared a tranny with the frog or lunchbox. but yes the pede rustler and bandit all share trannys the only difference is the spur gear.

No, they do not. The Frog, Blackfoot, & Monster Beetle used the same tranny, which is completely different from the one used in the Grasshopper & Hornet. To say Traxxas copied the idea of using one tranny in several vehicles from Tamiya is just silly. They both got the idea from real car manufacturers, who have been doing it for many years.

Thank you for clearing that up. It saved me some time. After owning several of these models back in the day, I saw that post and thought "WTF". However, I do remember that the Lunch Box and Midnight Pumpkin used an axle that looked similar to the Grasshopper/Hornet unit. It may have been the same, but I just saw a couple pre-built models at the LHS and never owned either of those trucks.

It just makes since that they share tranny parts. It saves money while offering easier access to replacement parts. I remember my TRX-3 shared most of its parts with the high-end Blue Eagles, etc. but some of the gears were shared with the Hawk and Radicator, too.
