Default Modifying leaf springs

When tapering leafs, are both the shackled and fixed ends tapered? And is it best to leave in the bushing or let it ride on just the screw? I am down to one leaf, no springs in the shocks, and still trying to get this last bit of articulation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

on full sized trucks leafs are tapered at both ends, I would definitely try to leave the bushings in if possible. Good luck! Any chance of seeing some pics?
