| Noisy R2 tranny?
I bought an R2 tranny used and just installed in into my project. First thing I noticed was that it was extremely loud. It sounds to me like something may not be right but I haven't heard one before so I'm not sure. Do you guys with these trannys find them to be loud? Is there anything I can check? |

They are loud... You can fill it with grease though and it will quite down a bit, I use cv joint grease and it works pretty good

Nothing i have found works better than mobil 1 synthetic grease mixed with white lithium grease. Mix it so the color is a light red. I have an r2-2speed and it made a HUGE difference

I sell rocksmith eng. gearjelly and swear by it. excellent product, works awsome in most applications and sticks to the gears, not the gear housing! Dennis made this product specifically for the R2 trannies and well it turns out its an all around gear lube. |

| There should be a flanged ball bearing on each end of the gear shafts. They go bad and take the gears out. If yours has bushings I'd replace them with bearings.

I have bearings in mine, I dont think I recall ever having bushings in an RC4WD tranny. But again if your having any loud noise from the gears, its mainly because its metal on metal. very common no matter what application you use. So either purchase some Rocksmith gearjelly or purchase whatever you like that you believe will fix the problem. |

got my Wolf yesterday and contra my scx10 tranny it was reasonably louder, but as team3six said its only metal in there so some noise it should be ill just lube it up and let it rip |

I'm another Rocksmith engineering gear jelly user and I swear by the stuff. My R2 tranny in my SCX10 is very quiet with the gear jelly on all the gears.
