Default Ax10 upgrades and questions

I recently just purchased a rtc and the grren link color pack, im looking at upgrading to the tekin 55t combo with the futuba 3pm x2.4 radio and rear steer kit and lipo, now on to the questions...

1) i noticed there is lockers in the axles, how do i turn these on? or make them work

2) what would be better the 55t or 45t tekin combo, and pro wound or regular?

3) who makes a lipo that last a good amount of time?

4) What is the most common tires used for rock and log crawling?

5) would would be better ti siften my springs?

Money is not an issue, so let me know what you guys think

1. The locker acts like a spool, basically always locked.

2. 45t would be a little more wheels speed and pro wound would be better

3. Any lipo will be fine, 2s or 3s lipo. I typically get 1hr out of my Venom 2s lipo (1550mah)

4. HB Rovers (white) soft

1. the lockers are locked you dont have to turn them on or anything they are redy to go as is.

2. id say the 45t PRO wound this is a hand wound motor and its a little better for speed and tq.

3. not sure on lipos i dont run them but id suggest a holems hobbies 3 cell lipo

4. there are a lot of tires used i like the panther cougars, and lots of people also use HB rovers

ad i wouldnt put rear steer on id use a dig its more useful and your able to comp with it on, and you can turn tighter with the dig on than rear steer

a dig is a device that lets you lcok up the rear tires and you can drag the front around and turn really tight, you can also use it to pull your front down and over the tops of climbs

and to anwser your 5th question
id keep them soft unless you notice tourqe twist then put a stiffer spring on the rear side that it leans to

a dig unit bolts to the stock trans.
it allows the rear wheels to
1.put power to ground
2.spin freely with no power gowing to ground
3.lock up rear tires so they[drag]on the ground
this improves climbing ability, turning radious, down hill
it is a must have, and it is fun to use.
this is what I say you need.
1.chassis with links, buy a used slingshot with links and plates=25-50 bucks,I paid 85 for mine but its carbon fiber, this will instantly improve the handling of the truck, but may require shorter shocks,I used traxxas big bores.
2.servo with over 300 oz of torque.I got a used jr9100t for 60 bucks.
this is another must have, but you must install a bec.
3.alum.collarsand knuckles.25 per pair.
4.esc,motor,bec. I have 3 trucks,2 are the fxr and it is perfect.
my wifes truck is a 45t my sons is a 65 I think that 45-55 is good to learn
5.lipo,this is a must have. for comps I run 3s 500's.this keeps wieght down yet gives me plenty of time to run a course. then I have a couple of 3s 1200's for playing around with.
4.alum.wheels used I paid 50 bucks and they are easier to mount rubber to,and they dont strip out as easy as plastic.
everyone has there preferences, but thats what I have done and it has worked.
5.revo drive shafts cut to fit.
have fun,buy used,goodluck

Every one has different opinions about chargers youll want to make shure that it can balance the packs while charging. The Hyperion eos0606i charger is a popular one. the fxr i believe does not have plugs so you would have to soldier your choice of plugs on( Deans ultra plugs are awsome)

I would go 45T combo, it wil give you a little more wheel speed when needed.

As far as springs go, just upgrade to Losi crawler shocks P/N# LOSA5082. The plastic RTC shocks will start to leak ...if they are not already.

The Proline Hammer tires work pretty good you just need to cut some tread out of them and sipe the lugs.
