Upgrading my steering servos

I'm going to upgrade my steering servos, and since I have 2 trucks, one with rear steer, I will be purchasing 3 servos, and cost is definately an issue.

I am thinking of going with the Hobbico CS-170 servos, unless I can get a better price on the Hitec 7955/7950/5955 (old model number) servo.

Anybody know of any deals on these servos?

The Hobbico is right at 89.00 from Tower, and if I buy 3 I'll get a $25 discount, bringing the price down to $82 each.

Any body know of a better deal?

John

tower is one of the best on pricing
its a great servo so id just go with them and their customer service is great if you have any problems

dont go cheap on a servo

I have 3 jr servos=no troubles
I have 4 ht sevos=trouble with 2,they sent me internals to fix it free of charge twice.

spend a little extra and buy jr,ht,I say this becouse of there customer support/warranty,cant speak for futaba but alot of guys like em.
if its a 2.2 you want at least 300oz+ of torque

The CS-170 is basically a rebadged Hitec 7955. I ran one in the SSS rig with no problems, but I also agree with rockhard, get the strongest servo you can afford at least.

What type of rig do you need the servos for? What size tire are they going to be pushing? That would help determine your choice. Ive used futaba on my ax10 b4 i dont remember the # but its was a metal gear servo, also axial makes and as2 that has metal gears, its pretty cheap and works fine for 2.2 tires. I use a hitec 5645 or 645 with clod or 40 series tires and wheels and have never had a problem....and with hitec you can buy the gears seperate from the case pretty cheap...chk out ebay you can get some really good deals.

I am running a jr ds8711 and love it.. 403 @ 6v and 347 @ 4.8 a little spendy but it takes a beating and keeps on going..
