Default Lipo question

I have been using 3s 1300mah 20c Lipos on my Berg since I built it. I see there are the same batteries available in 25c and 30c also. What is the atvantage?....Same mah and voltage. I assume it is more punch at full throttle? And if so, is it a big difference to warrent the bigger batteries?

The C-rating is how high an amperage the battery can discharge at, so you're right; it's the amount of punch the battery has. There's continuous and peak discharge rates usually. So if that 20c is continous, your battery can supply 26A continous (1.3A x 20). If it was 25C, then it would be 32.5A and at 30C it would be 39A. So the difference between 20C and 30C is pretty significant.

So then, what is the most popular pack to run? Are 30c's used a good bit to get the punch for tough gates?

If you want punch and thensome... id start at 35c. Im familar with lipo for about 2 years now and run 11.1v 30c, which is really pumping out the amps and its a serious battery, but there are times I wish I had a tiny bit more. If you can find and afford higher then 35c then you should do so. The higher the C count the better as long as runtime is not a factor to you.
Hyperion has some nice packs in 35c fashion is many different volts and mAh's for a very reasonable price;

I'm running Thunder power 850mah 45/90c batterys. They will easily do two courses and have great power. I do use 1100 Hyperion Gen 3s for practice/bashing for the run time but the less weight & bigger c rate does make a difference on course.
