Default Do I really need a DIG?

Looking at 2.2 Crawlers, it seems the Losi has the advantage out of the box with a DIG unit.

Is this just something I would have to buy to be competitive on a local level, or something not to worry about ?

I think if it's legal for a class, your kinda behind the game unless you have every advantage available.

get dig its a really smart thing to have if competing or other wise you point out in just reverses dig is an awesome advantage and if you dont get it you will end up wanting to get it

So I guess that makes the Losi a better bargain out of the box then....

It really ups the capability of your rig. And I would go with a MOA setup over the Losi, I'm not a fan of the wormdrive system but that's just me. I think it puts a ton of stress on the electronics.

Sorry , I`m new to crawling . What is MOA ? How does the worm drive put stress on the electronics ?

Motor over axle I believe.

Perhaps it's Tekin electronics that have some limitations. Might go Novak.

Ahh , that makes sense . I asked Jay Robinette [Losi Driver] about going MOA and said it isn`t needed on the LCC . He got 3rd in Worlds with stock gearbox . To each his own I suppose , Mine will stay stock unless I feel it is holding me back .

Seems many are running Tekin in the LCC but still torn between them or a Goat system .

Ya can comp in the sport/novice class for rigs without dig. Worm drives are very inefficient and put alot of strain on motors/esc (they make smoke). The losi is a good shafty comp crawler with front and rear dig. The axial really only can be upgraded to rear dig (yes I know there are dual digs out there) but is a much better basher. If ya are serious about comps get an moa (motor on axle = berg/Hot racing/bully/).

With the worm gears you better dang well pay close attention to you pinion /spur ratio as to not create the amazing poof factor on your electronics. MOA is nice and creates alot of advantages, however I would only suggest it if you have some good nearby resources to assist with the setup.

just my 2 cents but i would say get a rig without dig and learn to drive without dig first,,,then install a dig unit for whatever type of rig you buy,,,,that way if your dig ever fails it is a lot easier to drive without it,,dig is great but learing to drie without it to begin with is better and will make you a better driver,,then when you can drive pretty good without dig and you get it,,youll be even better cuz then youll learn to drive and set the course for not using the dig and when you do need it then it will be that much easier to use

and for out of the box quality per dollar,,you cannot beat Bully 2's

MOA is MOTOR ON AXLE,, and if you really like the worm drive speed and stability then comprimize and get the best of both worlds,,,RC4WD Wormdrive MOA's,,,otherwise,,Bully 2's
