how to cut/ bond styrene??
 

just turned 16, got my license yesterday and finished my honcho that maybe a few of you saw..im going to make some scale stuff now, :mrgreen:can you guys direct me on the best kind of styrene, how to cut it cleanly and how to glue/bond it..thanks!!

Styrene is different from the lexan used in RC. If you are building something from Styrene get some from Evergreen plastics or Plastruct. I only use Ambroid ProWeld to glue the joints in styrene. ProWeld also works well on Lexan. You just have to have a very tight fitting joint. It does not fill gaps.

But I use Plastruct Bondene to bond it. Using a exacto knife and a ruler has worked great for me so far but I'm new to it..lol

I have used the evergreen styrene as well. My local hobby shop has it in different thickness. I used Losi Tire glue to put my stiff together. As for cutting it. I would score it with a knife, then just snap it, usually a clean cut.

same here. Tenax 7R is virtually the same as Plastruct Bondene and I've used both. I only use Plastruct Bondene now though.

score and snap thicker styrene. cut through thinner stuff. always use sharp blades and change them often to keep your cuts clean and straight. Don't force the knife through the material. Instead always score a bunch of times, even if you're cutting through and not snapping it, except really thin stuff like 020/010 which cuts like paper, lol.

and also mud guards to keep stuff from getting in the electronics
